Myotherapy
This modality is best suited to those who are seeking a different approach to their musculoskeletal concerns, whether it be rehabilitation from an injury or to reduce pain and restore functional movement.
This treatment includes a detailed health history consultation and functional assessment as well as range of movement assessments and special orthopaedic tests to give an in-depth picture of the clients concerns. This will be followed by manual therapy treatment including cupping, tens, dry needling or taping if appropriate to treatment, as well as exercise prescription to support the body in restoring/improving movement whilst at home.
Due to the depth of detail in the assessment process all initial appointments must be 90 minutes and 90 minute follow up appointments are recommended also.

Remedial Massage
This style of massage is best suited to clients who have a specific issue that is needing to the resolved.
This treatment includes a consultation, assessments of the area causing symptoms, manual therapy treatment including cupping and taping if required and a post treatment assessment evaluation.
Due to the nature of this treatment 90minute appointments are required for initial appointments and are recommended for all follow up appointments especially if you have more than one area of concern.

Relaxation Massage
Otherwise known as Swedish massage - This style of massage is best suited to clients who have general tension, aches and pains or need to unwind from the stress of daily life.
Cupping
This is a tool used by many therapists, to improve circulation to a specific area while also providing tension release. In the method used at In Balance Therapies plastic "cups" are applied to the skin with suction, the cups can remain stationary or can be moved along the skin which is known as drag cupping.
Tens
Tens units is a tool that can be utilised as a way to relax muscles that are under tension, to assist in the rehabilitation of injuries and also to assist in nerve pain reduction. Adhesive pads are applied to clean skin and the electrode wires are attached to the machine, there is then a series of pluses in varied rhythms to assist in the desired result. The intensity or strength of the pulses are controlled by the client to ensure comfort during the process.
Dry needling
This tool is used by some remedial therapists however is mostly used by myotherapists and physiotherapists.
Unlike acupuncture which is performed by Chinese Medicine Practitioners and used along meridian lines to improve chi, dry needling is used to reduce tension in particular muscle groups. Acupuncture needles are used directly onto trigger points (tension spots) and remain in place until muscle tension is reduced.
Taping
This tool is used to give support to an area in the treatment of an injury or in the prevention of an injury occurring. In Balance utilises both Kinesiology tape (stretchy) and Rigid tape depending on the treatment required.
